A week in the Lakes (4)

Low Sizergh Barn is a barn in Low Sizergh. Better than that, it's a beautifully converted barn that now houses a superb farm shop and restaurant. So we had to visit that!

Then on to Cartmel Priory Church, another ancient building with lots of original artefacts. You could feel the history.

We returned via a long, scenic route. Scarily single-width, hilly and winding, but with fabulous scenery and amazing trees. Because we had nowhere to stop to take photos, the only ones we have from this drive were shot on the Cartmel Peninsula.

Not a day passed that week when we didn't see several of these...

...on their way, we were told, to the annual Romany rally at the Appleby Horse Fair, an occasion for showing their horses and making marital matches.

We only saw one of these. We were wondering why there was a hold-up!
